Tonight we will continue in our midweek series from 1 John 5, on Confident Christianity, and really of these messages came from a portion of a message a few weeks ago on a Sunday morning, we talked about Christians. Believers living underneath the privilege of what God insists for them to live in.

Being an authentic follower of the Lord Jesus Christ really does mean something! it’s not just a religious term, it’s not just your social media identifier, but if you’re saved and in the faith it really means something to be a Christian.

“Our confidence contract with the Lord”

As Christians, we have our advocate, our representative in the second person of the Godhead that we talked about Sunday, Jesus Christ, who is also there in the capacity as our great High Priest, who is at the right hand of the Father, who is pleading our case, taking our petitions, directly to God.

So if this is a communication, a pleading—- if you are in dialog with God, then we must understand some basics about Who it is we are speaking to

Being an authentic follower of the Lord Jesus Christ really does mean something! it’s not just a religious term, it’s not just your social media identifier, but if you’re saved and in the faith it really means something to be a Christian.

Tonight I want to look back to the word of God in first John, these last few verses in the last chapter of first John is sort of a written contract between Christ Jesus and His children. This is the evidence that would presented in a court case, if somehow there was a breech in contract, and we wanted to point to the agreement and the language of the contract, then this is what we would use to prove we have a case.

If you get right down to it human behavior somehow is tied or linked back to the desire that most humans to be happy. To find satisfaction in life. To feel accomplished, to b e recognized, to have a sense of being appreciated and valued.

This is is part of who we are. Humans by nature are always seeking out terms for self preservation, advancement and even simple basic necessity and even more elaborate desires for comfort. Most people, even people who may not show it, or would never allow themselves to admit it, are by nature, creatures who desire to be happy.

Now there is so much, too much in our world that speaks to happiness and what it is, what it looks like, how much it costs and what it means. But I submit to you, that you will find nothing inside the realm of earths most incredible possessions and elaborate offerings that can compare to the happiness that a man or woman can encounter first hand within the kingdom of God.

In closing out our series on “Marriage According to God” we’ve covered quite a bit of ground, and through testimony and private conversation, there has been advances in marriages of our church family for the glory of God.

I think the strongest personal impact comes when we embrace the truth that our Marriage as an illustration of Christ’s love for us. That changes everything; if the purpose of me being married is a detailed depiction of Christ love for me, then the marriage is really different than anything the world defines it as. If we truly believe that it will change us. I want to be more like Him, love like Him and live out what He lives out towards me.
