There is no greater privilege than being called “the children of God” (Rom. 8:15-17).   God the Father, in His great love toward us, has redeemed us from certain death and made us His sons and daughters through the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.  God the Father asked Jesus to come to this earth, live a perfect, sinless life and die for our sins.  Jesus was obedient to the Father by doing everything the Father asked Him to do and therefore satisfied the sacrifice for our sins once and for all!  Now, Jesus intercedes on our behalf every moment of the day!  When God sees the sinfulness of our lives and His righteousness warrants judgment, He looks to His right hand, smiles at His Son, and then extends more mercy and grace toward us because of Jesus.  What a great God we serve!

But now that we have been redeemed, have His mercy and grace and the Holy Spirit lives on the inside, what do we do?  Do we go on our way?  Do we accept this great sacrifice on the part of God and neglect our fellowship?  What do we do now?  The answer is very simple.  We seek to know Him and to understand what our responsibility is to Him.  This is where the “work” begins.  How do we really know God?   We know Him through studying His Word.  (more…)
