Good morning, church family!  What a joy it is to come together to worship the Lord this morning.

It has been a wonderful summer here at Trinity Baptist Church.  We are still rejoicing in what the Lord did for us at kids’ camp this year and also on the following Sunday when the Lord used our children and the choir in a mighty way.

With all the many activities we have had planned, it has made this summer go by extremely fast and I cannot believe that very soon we will be approaching August and our children will be going back to school!

I want to remind everyone in grades K thru 6th grade to be planning to be part of our VBS on Sunday, August 7, thru Friday, August 12, as we enjoy this year’s, “Wonder World Fun Fest.”  Please be praying for someone to invite as we prepare to share the exciting news of who Jesus is and what He has done!

We are asking that everyone please register your child for VBS on the website starting today.  You can also visit our website to find all the information for drop-off and pick-up times, meals, and activities .

We love you very much, church family, and thank you for your support and your continued prayers.

Miranda and I want to personally invite you to join us for the 53rd Land of The Sky Jubilee.  As a child, this was        my favorite time of the year!  The memories made, the  sermons I heard preached, and the music that grabbed     my heart then is still a major part of who I am today. Please make your plans to come and be blessed! Delicious home-cooked meals will be served for lunch and dinner  Wednesday through Friday. Please sign up online or call the church office to let us know which meals you will be eating with us so we can make plans. — Pastor Winston

In May of 1776, fighting was well under way in the American Revolution.  For General George Washington, it was a stressful time.  Under his command in New York, he had about seven thousand men.  The rag tag army was poorly trained and struggling to stabilize in the early days.  This American Army was about to face some thirty thousand soldiers from the most highly trained and successful military force in the world.  The Americans were outnumbered and outgunned.  As they waited in New York for the onslaught of British military power, General Washington issued orders for his troops to pray for the campaign ahead.

On May 17, 1776, Washington gave orders that the day was, “…to be observed as a day of fasting, humiliation and prayer, humbly to supplicate the mercy of Almighty God, that it would please Him to pardon all our manifold sins and transgressions, and to prosper the arms of the united colonies, and finally establish the peace and freedom of America upon a solid and lasting foundation.”

Washington knew that our only hope then was repentance, humility, and a sincere desire for God to establish our foundation as a people.  May this Independence Day be an opportunity for us all to follow in the footsteps of our first president, to call on our God and humbly ask Him to fortify our foundation, and that above all, we would remember that God gave us our freedoms.  To whom much is given, much is required.

Happy Independence Day!
