Killing the strange gods

1 Samuel 7:3-13 | Pastor Winston Parrish

The Lord keeps bringing to mind the fact that there are people who genuinely want to be right with God; they want to be what God wants them to be, and there may even be a longing in their hearts to go back to a place where loving God and serving God consumed their life, where they could hear His whisper, where His word just jumped off the pages. They remember when they could sense God’s presence and enjoy the silence and solitude because they weren’t alone. God the Holy Ghost was there with them, and they knew it.

But for some, all this seems like a far and distant memory. These are the days gone by, fond memories for which they long. I believe that there are even members of this church who can never really seem to understand His word or feel connected to the heart of the church. They are lost and need to be converted. You can only be revived if you’ve been made alive!

Today, I want us to look carefully at one time in the lives of God’s people when their distance from the power and presence of God was at their own fragility and spiritual weakness. Look with me now: 1 Samuel 7:3-13

  1. The Promise of Deliverance
  2. The Power of Prayer
  3. The Process of Restoration

God is not weak, frail, frightful, or broken; God is not dejected, depressed, nor is He a melancholy Deity with no confidence within Himself! He is most magnificently put, God Almighty! Holy Holy Holy God Almighty!
