A Selection of Scriptures | Pastor Winston Parrish
In a time of heightened partisanship and divisiveness, Christians are called to bring their faith into the voting process, prioritizing values like the sanctity of life. Voting remains a critical duty for Christians who have the unique blessing of choosing their leaders in a way that believers in many other nations do not.
While political outcomes may seem uncertain and anxieties high, the reminder is clear: God is sovereign over all authorities and rulers. We are encouraged to look beyond the earthly candidates and to view the election through the lens of faith, anchored by three truths: God’s providence, purpose, and peace.
Trust in God’s supreme rule, which remains firm no matter who wins. God’s throne is unshaken and He governs all things according to His perfect will!
1. Providence: God’s Authority Over All Powers
All earthly rulers serve under God’s authority. He uses both believers and nonbelievers to fulfill His plans, reminding us to trust that all events, including political outcomes, are within His providential care.
2. Purpose: God’s Design for Good Through Government
While we may see government through the lens of political division and opposition, God designed it for order, justice, and the restraint of evil. God is a God of order and a God of law.
3. Peace: God’s Unchanging Promise of Security
In times of tension, God offers His people a peace beyond circumstances. This peace, grounded in God rather than worldly changes, provides stability and calm, reminding believers that true security is found in Him alone.
