Abraham’s journey of faith exemplifies a life rooted in God’s promises rather than visible realities or worldly priorities. Though he lived as a sojourner in the land God promised, dwelling in tents as a foreigner, this was not a place of disappointment, but of victory. His life symbolized impermanence, yet his heart was fixed on a heavenly city, not on earthly land or possessions. Abraham’s faith propelled him beyond the temporal, trusting in God’s ultimate promise of an eternal dwelling prepared by God Himself. This hope sustained him through uncertainties and challenges, reminding us that faith looks beyond the present to the unshakeable reality of God’s eternal promises. There are three truths when living in this hope:

1. Hope to Look Beyond the Temporary – Matthew 6:19-21
Like Abraham, we are sojourners called to live with a heavenly perspective, anchoring our hope not in the temporary and tangible, but in the eternal promise of a perfect city built by God.

2. Hope to See a Builder Who Cannot Fail – Hebrews 12:22-24
Our hope rests in the unshakable city built by God Himself—a permanent, heavenly home secured through Christ, where His presence is our eternal shelter and our inheritance is sure.

3. Hope to Yearn for the Eternal – Hebrews 11:10-16
Yearning for the eternal pulls believers away from the fleeting attachments of this world, anchoring their faith in the heavenly city prepared by God, where they find identity, hope, and eternal fellowship through Christ.
