Our Christmas Faith

The foundation of our faith is built upon the virgin birth of Jesus Christ. 

If Jesus was born just like you or me, we would have no hope for salvation or for eternal life.  The virgin birth is proof that Jesus is the Son of God.

Don’t forget this fact: Jesus is not half-human and half-God. That would not help our fallen nature.  Jesus must be God presented in the flesh to illustrate the fact that we can be restored.  We can be born again!

Jesus is 100% God and 100% man.  Karen Jobes, Professor of New Testament Greek at Wheaton Graduate School, writes to the subject of Jesus Divinity and humanity.  “The Gospel writers Matthew and Luke both chose to include a genealogy of Jesus to provide a context for better understanding His identity and    significance.  …Jesus was the culmination of all God’s promises revealed in the Old Testament.  Joseph was the “legal” father of Jesus, but God was the biological father of Jesus Christ.”

It is Real!  Jesus is the reason for the season called Christmas!

Our faith is built upon the birth of Jesus Christ.

Our foundation for our faith is the fact of the virgin birth.

It is not “winter break”, it is the break in the year to remember the Birth of Jesus.

It is not the “holiday parade”, it is the Christmas Parade.

Honor your faith! Celebrate the fact Jesus is the Son of God!

Christmas is in 23 days!

The year has seemingly flown by, and as the end of 2018 approaches, one of the most special days in the entire year is almost here!

Christmas at Trinity is always such a wonderful time to be a part of this church family. We enjoy so many wonderful Christmas reminders throughout the month of December. From our children participating in the Christmas play to our choir singing a Christmas concert, there are so many ways to celebrate the birth of our Savior!

Our “Birthday Offering for Jesus” is just two weeks away, and as our families pray and prepare for what we can do to further the Kingdom of Christ, there is one “loud truth” that is evident throughout the lives of our dear congregation: “God has been good!”

You see, this time of year can be a little overwhelming. Presents to buy, family to visit, places to take the kids, cooking, putting up the tree . . . the list goes on and on. But as Christians we have to step back, take a deep breath, and remember just what Christmas means.

The birth of Christ brought so many redeeming truths! In His first breath as an infant here on earth, He exhaled the only air ever circulated through the lungs of God in the form of man, and with it the sound of hope for allhumanitycame out of His precious, tiny mouth. The birth of Jesus brought salvation for your soul, peace for your heart, mercy and grace that we didn’t deserve, purpose for your existence, forgiveness for your failures, light to replace darkness, joy to replace sadness, glory for you to understand beauty, righteousness to justify unjustness, and precious blood to wash away the sins of a heart! So if anyone hasn’t said it to you yet this year, allow me to be the first, Merry Christmas!

Jesus, the Lamb of God

A little girl named Liz was suffering from a rare and serious disease.  Her only chance of recovery appeared to be a blood transfusion from her 5 year-old brother.

Her brother had miraculously survived the same disease and his body had developed the antibodies needed to combat the illness.

The doctor explained the situation to her little brother and asked the boy if he would be willing to give his blood to his sister.  The little boy hesitated for only a moment before taking a deep breath and saying, “Yes, I’ll do it if it will save Liz.”

The next day the transfusion was underway and Liz and her little brother lay side by side in the hospital bed.  Tommy began to smile as we all did, as the color began to return to Liz’s cheeks. Then Tommy’s color began to grow pale and his happy face began to fade.

Tommy looked up at the doctor and asked with a trembling voice, “Will I start to die right away?”

Being so young, the boy had misunderstood the doctor.  Tommy thought he was going to have to give Liz all of his blood, yet he willingly submitted to the procedure anyway.  That is love!

We rejoice today, that Jesus, God’s lamb, willingly gave His life for us!  He knew us and loved us anyway.

As we prepare our homes and families for Christmas, may we remember Jesus is the reason for the season.

Jesus is God’s lamb that gave His blood that we could be redeemed.

May we never forget God’s love for us!

Thank you for being faithful to the Lord and our church.

November to Remember

In our recent Bible studies we have experienced revealing evidence of the power of an individual life.

As we have journeyed through the Book of Acts, we remember the influence of the Ethiopian eunuch, Saul, and Cornelius.

Our November adventure in the Word reinforces God’s provision of salvation for all people.

Acts, Chapter 8—ETHIOPIAN EUNUCH            –           PAGAN

Acts, Chapter 9—SAUL                                           –           JEW

Acts, Chapter 10—CORNELIUS                          –           GENTILE

The Word of God carries the account of the conversion of these three men.  Inside their conversion these men represent the known world at the time of Christ.  We understand the eunuch represents Africa, Saul represents the Middle East, and Cornelius represents Europe.

As we study the Bible and the lives and influences of these men, we must REMEMBER that we have influence in our day, as well.

Families will gather for Thanksgiving in a few days.  As Bible believers, we should be thankful people, every day.  God has given us so much and changed our lives.  Let’s remember to be thankful!

We should also remember that God gave each of us life, and with that life, influence.

How will I use my life, my influence?  Will I be light into someone’s world?  Can I be an encourager and not a person that discourages others?

Thanksgiving gives us all an opportunity to remember the blessings of God.

Thanksgiving also gives us an opportunity to be a friend, to be Salt & Light for someone that needs our Lord.

God could use you to make the difference in someone’s life for all eternity.

A person helped, a life changed, or a soul saved, that would be a November to Remember!

You are a blessing in my life and I am so THANKFUL FOR YOU!

A GOOD SOLDIER

We welcome each one of you to Trinity today as we honor and thank our Veterans for their service to our nation.  Following the 10:45 service we will be providing a meal and a gift for each veteran who has been with us today.  Remember, FREEDOM ISN’T FREE; THANK OUR VETERANS!!

In II Timothy 2:1-4 we are admonished to, “…endure hardness, as a good soldierof Jesus Christ.”  In verse 4, Paul tells us to please Him who hath chosen us to be a soldier.  In God’s Word we have a plan and path to live the life of a good soldier even in these confusing, chaotic and hard times.

As a church family, a group of soldiers for Christ, let us work together to:

  • BE TOUGH/STRONG/ENDURE,  II Timothy 2:3,  II Corinthians 6
  • OBEY/TRUST OUR COMMANDER, John 14:15, John 15:14, Ephesians 6
  • TEACH OTHERS OF THE GOSPEL, II Timothy 2:2

November is the month that we focus on our Faith Promise Missions Program.  On October 24th we received a report from our missionary Karen Werth and collected a love offering of $1800.00 to purchase a motorcycle for Pastor Eddie in Indonesia.  Praise the Lord!  We also heard from Bro. Mark Logan and his special guest, Elton Wilson, from Malawi, Africa.  He has had his eye surgery and the doctor is pleased with his progress, but Elton has two more critical weeks for the retina healing. Please continue to pray.

We will hear from several of our missionaries throughout the remainder of the month and on Sunday, November 25th, we will collect our Faith Promise Giving cards to determine our missionary giving for 2019.

We welcome back our HOLYLAND TRAVELERS!  Our church family is anxious to hear the stories of your experiences as you walked where Jesus walked!
