Jesus is Easter

Just a few months ago we were celebrating Christmas.  If you remember we said, “Jesus is the reason for the season.” That is true; the birth of Christ is what we celebrate at Christmas.

Now we are just a few days from Easter Sunday.  I can with all assurance declare, “Jesus is Easter!”  Easter is the celebration of life and that is all contained in the glorious resurrection.

John chapter twenty carries the historical account of what happened after the trial and public death of our Lord.  Jesus gave up His life.  Jesus was not executed or killed by the sponsorship of Romans and Religions.  Jesus gave up His life for our soul’s salvation.

In John 20: 16-17, Jesus said unto Mary, “Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father, and to my God, and your God.”

Mary told the disciples, “I saw Jesus, I was at the tomb, it was empty! He spoke to me, called me by my name. Jesus is alive!”

Spring time, green grass, baby chicks, and bunny rabbits all are associated with Easter.

Yet, the real Easter is Jesus.  He was dead, now He is alive for evermore!

Super Sunday Night

God has really blessed our services and our Trinity families.

We have so much to be thankful for in our lives.  We have the truth of salvation, the power of God’s Word, the fellowship of our church and a place for our families to call home.

The last few services have been wonderful and such a sweet spirit of worship.  We have enjoyed not only worship but a fresh hunger to study the Word of God.

This past Sunday night added a new layer to our praise and worship.

We started singing, then we wanted to sing it again, and then we had testimonies about the heritage in some of our older church music.

We have a beautiful blend in our music worship and the Sunday Night music turned into a Super Sunday Night Singing!

Then the talk was that we need to add the old Red Book back into our pews for some songs of praise.  In a Super Surprise the church started giving and we received enough to order 400 new song books!

Praise the Lord for a wonderful day!

Thank you for being faithful!  Thank you for giving and for your songs of praise!

Jesus Our Shepherd

In our past three Bible studies we have focused on God’s illustration showing Jesus as a Shepherd.

We are familiar with Psalm 23 which proclaims, The Lord is my Shepherd, but have you ever considered the statement this way?  “The Lord is my ______.”  Fill in the blank.  Out of all the job descriptions in the world, God chose to illustrate the relationship of Jesus as a shepherd.

The Lord is my farmer.  The Lord is my baker.  The Lord is my Lawyer.  Any and all of these vocations would serve to describe the love of Christ.

Yet, God chose one that was perfect in His eyes.  My son, Jesus will be understood as a shepherd to the people!

From Genesis to Revelation we have scriptures speaking of shepherds and sheep.

Don’t forget that Abraham was a shepherd when God used him to start the nation of Israel in Genesis Chapter 12.

When God wanted a leader for Israel to lead them out of Egypt, God used Moses, a shepherd.

When David encounters Goliath he is only a shepherd boy, but he is on the way to be King over Israel.

God then explains that the Messiah, our Kinsman Redeemer, is best understood as a shepherd and we are His sheep!

We are so blessed to have the Word of God and the insight of the scriptures.  To see the scriptures come alive is to go to the Holy Land or come to Trinity and see the “Shepherd with the Sheep”!

The Help We Need

What a day! What a week!  It seems every day we experience more and more stress in our lives, our marriages, and our families.

Thankfully, we have help!  We are blessed to have the help we need to survive in this crazy world and to grow in our walk with the Lord.

Our recent Bible studies and worship services have highlighted this truth.  God has placed the help we need in His Word, no matter the circumstance.

Bible study is a personal adventure with just you and your Bible, providing a time of intimate fellowship with the Lord.  This is the fellowship that satisfies the heart and changes your life.

When we read the Bible and pray for God to help us understand, we grow spiritually.  We learn how to be better students of the Word of God.

This time with the Word of God will provide guidance for our lives and families.

Psalm 119:34    Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law;

                           yea I shall observe it with my whole heart.

Don’t forget, Us in the Word and the Word in Us!

Be Still and Know

Psalm 46:10 speaks of being still and knowing God.  “Be still, and know that I am God:  I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the Earth.”

During the past few services we have been blessed with a wonderful awareness of God.  Many have expressed, “I was afraid to move!”  Some stated that, “There was a sense that God is here, don’t move! Just be still before Him!”

In times of spiritual refreshing, God demonstrates His mighty power by just making sure we know, HE IS HERE!

There is an important lesson in the first part of the verse …“Be still, and know…”

There is a great spiritual strength in just being quiet in the silence of my environment.  Remove the clutter.  Remove the noise.  Make the extra effort to remove TV, radio, cell phone, IPad, and my play list. For ME to be still!

To listen for the still small voice.  Is God speaking to me, to my heart?

The silence gives opportunity for

  1. Listening
  2. Observing
  3. Thinking
  4. Feeling
  5. Awareness

While God is visiting us anew, let’s break out of the routine and listen!

Our prayer is to be like Him.  Our prayer is for help, “We beseech thee”, as we are praying together for revival!
