Praise the Lord! What a wonderful Wednesday night service.  God is so good to us and we are blessed beyond measure!

The truths about prayer touched our hearts and God sure did bless us with His presence.  We are to be a people of prayer.

If Jesus had to pray when He was on earth, how much more do we need to pray?

What is prayer? Prayer is talking to God.

How does God talk to us? God speaks to us by the reading and studying of our Bible.

Let’s review the list of truths about prayer:

1.      We are to pray to our Father in Heaven        Luke 11:2

2.      God invites us to pray                                      Luke 11:9

3.      We have access to God through prayer          Hebrews 10:19

4.      We are to pray in Jesus’ name                        John 15:16

5.      We are to pray according to His will               I John 5:14

6.      The Holy Spirit helps us to pray                       Romans 8:26

7.      Prayer gives us supply from God                     Philippians 4:19

8.      We should start each day in prayer                 Psalm 5:3

9.      We are to pray about everything                      Proverbs 3:6, Philippians 4:6

10.  We are to pray at all times                               I Thessalonians 5:17

Can God supply all our needs, spiritual, physical, emotional, and financial?

YES! GOD CAN!

Together in prayer we agree with the promises of God; we agree that our God can!

As we closed the service Wednesday night we agreed to pray for ourselves, that God would touch our faith.  We agreed to pray for our marriages, our families, our children and our church.

God can touch the hearts that need to be a part of removing the obstacle of debt!  We have our children, our teens and young adults that need the ministries of a debt-free church!

Can God?      God Can!

As I study the Word of God, I am amazed at how God uses people!

Sometimes it is someone that you think can’t be used.  They have messed up so badly that it seems God could never use them again.  Then, here comes grace and mercy; we see Sampson move into action, King David is back, and the Apostle Peter is preaching great revivals.

God also reminds us we are not to serve Him alone.  Sheep need a shepherd and we need each other.  Jesus is the great Shepherd and He gave us the sheep fold, the local church.

I am reminded again, “All we have on earth is God and each other, and we better take care of each other!”

Our church becomes the instrument of God’s multiplication. We each pray and God puts our prayers together to fulfill His Word, “If any two or three agree together…”

God uses our labors of love and puts them together to make a difference in the lives of others.  In the last few weeks, you have built a ramp for a shut-in, put a roof on a widow’s house, placed a farm tractor in a shipping container for children in an orphanage in Africa, and built and decorated a Christmas float for a witness to Asheville.  This demonstrates the power of togetherness!

The same is true of our giving.  God said for us to bring the first-fruit (tithe) of our labors (income) into the storehouse (church) on the first day of the week (Sunday).

We talked this week at the Finance Committee meeting about our church and giving.  How blessed we have been over the years, with a group of faithful givers.  Some were very faithful each week are now in Heaven.

That is the power of working together.  One cannot pay for all that needs to be done, but together we can.  Will you prayerfully consider not only your tithe, but your gifts?  Our debt retirement, our missions, our benevolent giving, are all above our tithes.

Maybe you can help this generation have a future of faith, friends and fellowship.  Together we can keep the light on in the Lighthouse.

November has been another exciting month for Missions at Trinity.  We have enjoyed the flags of nations from around the world and the wonderful testimonies of our missionaries.

I want to thank Pastor Dwight and our missions committee for making the thoughtful and powerful presentations to our church family.  We have said often that the blessing of the Lord has been enjoyed here at Trinity Baptist because we area mission hearted church!

Our church was birthed out of a Send the Light Missions Conference with Dr. James Stewart and our founding pastor, Dr. Ralph Sexton, Sr. Their burden, focus and energy was taking the Gospel to a needy and hurting world!  The common burden of people that believed in missions was the anchor point to bring people together of like faith!

Part of this great heritage is the unique giving by faith or Faith Promise.

The individual member prays about God would have you give each week or month next year for missions outreach, (in America and overseas).

The prayer and promise card reflects that resolve.  God, I will give $25 or __?__ per month for missions.  By faith, if you provide, I will give.  By faith, that way it is up to God to provide the way to give. That is why we call it “Faith Promise” giving.

Today, we are asking God to touch out faith as we complete our giving cards for 2020 missions.

Thank you for praying and for giving for our missions budget for next year.

God has blessed our church and our families with a wonderful year!  We have so much to be thankful for… even the things that hurt.

As we studied the book of Acts Wednesday night, it was apparent that God has a plan.  A plan for you, your family, and friends.  He (God) is large and in charge!  Yet, at the same time He is a compassionate, caring father and friend.  He knows what hurts and still uses it for His glory while protecting us.

We can be thankful for the promises of His Word.  The promises of His care, His provision, His presence, and even the passage that, “God dwells in the thick darkness.”  So dark we can’t see Him or His plan, yet…He is There.

Our God loves us and He is a personal God.  We have so much to be thankful for…  God is not a stone idol or a plastic Jesus on the dash of our cars.  God is a living Lord with ears to hear and hands to reach out to touch.

We are thankful for His provision, above and beyond what we can even ask. The Bible teaches us that He even hears before we call!

We are thankful for His presence.  He abides in us and we abide in Him.  Jesus is a friend that knows all about me and loves me anyway.  We have so much to be thankful for in our lives.

We have the Lord and we have each other.  We are blessed!

There is great joy in serving Jesus, and there can be great peace in living every day for the Lord.  Don’t be afraid to give Jesus your everything.

Pastor D.L. Moody said, “Let God have your life;  He can do more with it than you can.”

We welcome each one of you to Trinity today as we honor and thank our Veterans for their service to our nation. Following the 10:45 service we will be providing a meal for each veteran and their family. Remember, FREEDOM ISN’T FREE; THANK OUR VETERANS!!

In II Timothy 2:1-4 we are admonished to, “…endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.”  In verse 4, Paul tells us to please Him who hath chosen us to be a soldier.  In God’s Word we have a plan and path to live the life of a good soldier even in these confusing, chaotic and hard times.

As a church family, a group of soldiers for Christ, let us work together to:

· Be tough, strong, endure— II Timothy 2:3, II Corinthians 6

· Obey, trust our commander—John 14:15, John 15:14, Ephesians 6

· Teach others of the Gospel— II Timothy 2:2

November is the month that we focus on our Faith Promise Mission Program.  Trinity works together in supporting over 150 ministries carrying the Gospel around the world.  We will hear from several of our missionaries throughout the remainder of the month and on Sunday, November 24th, we will collect our Faith Promise Giving cards to determine our missionary giving for 2020.  Let’ pray for the Lord to increase our faith and our sharing.

We welcome back our Holy Land Travelers!  Our church family is anxious to hear of your experiences as you walked where Jesus walks!

Working together,

Dwight Parrish
