Back to the siege and famine of Samaria. Last week we saw the doubt of the King’s Captain, the Lord, the right hand man and the outcome that was brought on by his doubt. Today we will look at the King here of Israel who was in power at the time of this famine in Samaria and war that was being fought against Benhadad King of Syria.
Notice the relationship of the King with Elisha.
2 Kings 6:9-10
9 And the man of God sent unto the king of Israel, saying, Beware that thou pass not such a place; for thither the Syrians are come down.
10 And the king of Israel sent to the place which the man of God told him and warned him of, and saved himself there, not once nor twice.
Elisha, receiving supernatural revelation, continually identified information to The King about the Israelite towns which the king of Syria planned to attack. The King then took the proper precautions and appropriately fortified those towns in order to frustrate the Syrian plan. The Syrian King was sure someone in his household was revealing his plans to Israel. Through a supernatural working of God, God used Elisha and delivered a sizable portion of the Syrian army into the hands of the king of Israel without bloodshed. The Syrians discovered they were surrounded and captives of Israel.
