What Mom Really Wants for Mother’s Day

In the book of Third John, chapter 1, John writes about how wonderful it was for him to witness one of his spiritual children being obedient to the Word of God and walking uprightly in the faith. He writes, “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.” 3 John 1:4

I’m absolutely certain that this is the same sentiment that a godly mother experiences when the investment she makes in her children bares the fruit of obedience to the Lord.

All of the laborious efforts to point children to Christ in every aspect of motherhood is no “walk in the park.” It’s hard work. It requires intentional effort, perpetual patience and a dedication that is anchored deep within the soul.

Moms of Trinity, let me encourage you. While this Mother’s Day you may get the flowers, cards, candy, and the recognition that you so deserve, it could be that the real Mother’s Day gift will come years from now when you see your children serving God and teaching their children about the marvelous Lord and Savior, whom we love.

My heart cries out today, “Thank God for moms who wait patiently, continuing to push towards the mark, waiting for the day that their “gift” arrives in the form of no greater joy.”
